Lake in the Hills to discuss video gaming licenses
The Lake in the Hills Village Board will hold and ad hoc meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss video gaming licenses within the village.
Village code requires that all video gaming machines within the village have a license. Establishments that facilitate the consumption of alcoholic beverages are required to obtain a license from national and state levels of government prior to its application for a village license. Once the application is submitted it is voted for approval by the Village Board and the village’s president. An establishment is able to have a maximum of five video gaming terminal licenses.
Licenses of this kind last for one year and require annual renewal with application fees at $100 per machine.
Electronic and mechanical amusement devices also require a village licence. This class of device refers to machines that are purely for entertainment purposes and players are not granted credits or other form of compensation for playing. Fees for this kind of license are $30 for commercial operations.
