The city of McHenry's Public Works Committee approved the 2016 street program list at its Feb. 1 meeting.

The plan presented by the Director of Public Works Jon Schmitt and Street Superintendent Scott Schweda noted that the street plan ranks each area in need of repair and accounts for the $1 million allotment for the program.

According to the meeting minutes, the street program should be enhanced due to the city failing to keep up with needed repairs with the current financial limitations and an additional $500,000 should be added to the program in order to complete more repair projects.

The street program consisting of repairs for Barnwood Trail, Whiting Court, Essex Court and Ashley Driv and a request of the additional $500,000 in funding was unanimously approved by the committee and will be presented to City Council.
