The Cary Park District recently said it will holding its kite flying event at 10:00 a.m. April 16 in Lions Park as a part of the Flying for Kids Month being held throughout the state.

During the event there will be a flying competition and space for those that do not want to compete. Participants are asked to bring their own kites. The event itself is free; children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Illinois Association of Park Districts is using this month to promote the Park DIstrict Youth license plate. Proceeds from the sale and renewals of these plates go on to support youth programs throughout the state’s parks and recreation organizations and agencies through the Power Play Grant.

The Cary Park District was awarded grant funding that supported the E.T. KidZone program that takes place before and after the school day.

The program offers children space and time in order to take part in physical activities that include unstructured play time and coordinated games and time to finish homework. The program also has staff on hand that will be able to provide homework assistance.
