The board of Cary Community Consolidated School District 26 approved a bid for the Briargate renovation project during its Feb. 22 meeting.
The meeting minutes state that the district sought bids to renovate Briargate Elementary School and opened the submitted bids earlier in February. The bids that had been submitted were lower than the district had anticipated and costs were lower than the budgeted amount for this project. The minutes also state that the project would total $2,445,785.
The Finance Committee has recommended the board accept the bid from Tower Construction, which totals $2,138,000. The project costs include asbestos abatement, engineering and architect fees alongside general renovation.
The meeting notes states that the school is the only one within the district that does not have air conditioning.
A related bid from Kinsale for asbestos abatement was also approved by the board.
