Three Illinois daily newspapers are hosting on-demand screenings of the "Madigan: Power. Privilege. Politics." video. The documentary will be available on the Northwest Herald (nwherald.com), Herald-News (theherald-news.com) and DeKalb Daily Chronicle (daily-chronicle.com) websites until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The documentary illustrates the power that a longtime politician like House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) can amass over many years. Madigan has served in the Illinois House for 45 years and as speaker for 31 – the longest-serving speaker in Illinois history.
Illinois does not have term limits, which allows politicians like Madigan to make a career in the state House or Senate. His influence affects the bills that reach the House and Senate floors and which ones are approved and sent to the governor.
"Madigan: Power. Privilege. Politics" is also appearing in limited showings in Chicago, Elmhurst, Elk Grove Village, Gurnee, Naperville and Wilmette movie theaters. Tickets are available at www.michaelmadigan.com.
In addition to the online and movie theater screenings, the documentary will air on downstate TV stations noon Sunday in Harrisburg/southern Illinois on WSIL, 10 a.m. Sunday in the Quad Cities on WQAD and 5 a.m. Sunday in Rockford on WTVO.
