Harvard Community Unit School District 50 Insurance Committee met Nov. 16.

Here is the agenda provided by the Committee:

Present: Julie Lehmann, Dr. Corey Tafoya, Renee Gonzaelz, Oralia Navarro, Mary Taylor, Sara Weaver, Ranell Blue, Cheryl Grieshop, Mary Cooke, Korey Coffer, Tony Buschemi from HUB and Krissy Hall from HUB

1. Tony Buschemi and Krissy Hall from HUB came in and discussed the insurance premiums for the upcoming open enrollment

a. Currently Blue Cross Blue Shield has come back with a 9.8% increase for health insurance

b. HUB also presented quotes from United Healthcare that came in much lower than the quotes from BCBS

c. The committee has requested that HUB go back to BCBS and see if the increase can be lowered from the 9.8% and if BCBS if they would offer a smaller PPO network option in place of the HMO Illinois as comparable to UHC’s proposal. Requesting to go to the smaller PPO would show very little disruption to staff and a cost effective choice.

2. Sara Weaver is going to put together a Google form with the current amount that is being paid for insurance and will include information with the increase or decrease being proposed. Sara will be looking for feedback from staff if they want to remain with BCBS or change to UHC.

3. It was decided that the Open Enrollment meeting for staff with take place on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Central Administration Center.

4. The meeting was adjourned.

5. The following are action items for the next meeting: November 30, 2017 4:00 pm

o HUB to present if any additional reduction was offered by BCBS and if they have considered a smaller PPO network in place of the HMO Illinois.

o Sara Weaver to provide results of feedback that was received from the staff from the Google form that sent to all staff.
