Report: Cary spent $10,230 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Cary Community Consolidated School District 26 is up 7 percent from five years ago, according to a McHenry Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Mchenry County school district spent $9,543 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,230 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2655 to 2429.

Cary's spending in 2016-17 was 21 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
