McHenry County Historical Society and Museum issued the following announcement on June 12.
What a corker!
The rain held off just long enough June 10 for the Grayslake Athletics and McHenry County "Independants" to get their ball game at Prairie Grove's Village Hall Park.
Grayslake, however, bested your "Club NIne" in 10 innings - 9 to 8. A rematch is planned at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, in Grayslake's Central Park.
The next contest is slated for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in Eagle, Wis. McHenry County Independants and the Diamond Eagles from Old World Wisconsin.
Eagle is located about 17 miles north of Elkhorn, off Route 67. Old World Wisconsin documents the settlement of 19th- and early 20th-century Wisconsin and includes an 1870s’ crossroads village and 10 ethnic farmsteads.
Regular park admission applies. For details visit https://oldworldwisconsin.wisconsinhistory.org/
