Village of Huntley Liquor Commission met March 22.

Call to Order:
A meeting of the Huntley Liquor Commission was called to order on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 7:00
p.m. in the Municipal Complex, Village Board Room, 10987 Main Street, Huntley, Illinois 60142.
Attendance:
Present: Chairman Charles H. Sass; Commissioners: Ronda Goldman, Timothy Hoeft, Niko
Kanakaris, Harry Leopold, John Piwko and JR Westberg.
Absent: None
In Attendance: Village Manager David Johnson, Assistant Village Manager Lisa Armour,
Director of Development Services Charles Nordman, Assistant to the Director of Public Works and
Engineering Jason Irvin, Management Assistant Barbara Read and Village Attorney John Cowlin.

Items for Consideration:
A. Consideration of an Ordinance for the Approval of an Outside Event; Taco Locos; Cinco
de Mayo Festivity
Liquor Chairman Sass reported that a request has been received from Tacos Locos to conduct an outside
event for Cinco de Mayo on Saturday May 5th. Tacos Locos is located in the Huntley Grove Plaza in
front of the Walmart shopping center.
Staff Analysis
The Cinco de Mayo event will include a tent, mariachi band, food, and drinks. The hours of the event
will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. with outside alcohol service ending at 10:30 p.m. The tent area
will utilize five (5) parking spaces and include tables and chairs for patrons. The entire tent area will be
fenced.
The owners of the Huntley Grove Plaza provided a letter of their approval, and on behalf of Tacos
Locos, contacted the tenants of their plaza for approval of the event. Six of the seven tenants responded
with their consent to allow the event to take place.
Chairman Sass reported that the owner from Taco Locos was in attendance to answer questions.
Chairman Sass asked if the Liquor Commission had any comments or questions; there were none.
A MOTION was made to approve an Ordinance approving the outside event for Tacos Locos;
12132 Route 47 for a Cinco De Mayo Festival subject to the following conditions of approval:
1. The approved alcohol can only be sold and consumed within the restaurant and designated
fenced tent area.
2. The petitioner agrees to that the event is to be undertaken in accordance with all
reasonable Village requirements including all necessary permits, rules and regulations of
the Village, the Huntley Fire Protection District, and the Illinois State Liquor Control
Commission.
