CITY OF CRYSTAL LAKE: A Message from the City of Crystal Lake

Local gov stock 01

City of Crystal Lake issued the following announcement on June 29.

As a result of significant rainfall the past few weeks, the Village of Lakewood sanitary sewer system has been overloaded, and the Village has requested assistance from the City of Crystal Lake to help alleviate the overload impacting areas of Lakewood south of the Lake.

All costs associated with assistance efforts will be borne by the Village of Lakewood.

The City assisted Lakewood with a similar request last summer.

Upon receiving the request from Lakewood, the City began exploring options to determine if Crystal’s Lake’s sanitary system had the capacity to accommodate additional intake from areas impacted in Lakewood.

It was determined that the City’s sewer infrastructure has capacity to accept the additional flow starting Friday, June 29, 2018.

We would like to assure all the residents of Crystal Lake that the assistance provided to Lakewood will not negatively affect them.

The well-being of Crystal Lake residents will always remain our number one priority.

We will continue to monitor our flow levels daily, and have advised leadership of the Village of Lakewood that if conditions change, the City will have no choice but to stop accepting sewer waste from the Village.
