Harvard Community Unit School District 50 issued the following announcement on Nov. 8.
With the addition of state-allocated Evidence-Based Funding, Harvard CUSD 50 is able to implement a plan to improve vital parts of the district. Available funding is critical because Harvard CUSD 50 has been identified as significantly deficient in funding from the state.
Some of the areas the district has already used funding for or intends to use funding for include:
- Harvard Junior High Student Support and Activities Facilitator to expand opportunities for students
- Jefferson Assistant Principal and District Behavior Specialist to assist social-emotional learning
- Additional social workers at Jefferson Elementary and Harvard High School
- Elementary art teachers
- Art and music teacher for Washington School
- Half-Time College and Career Coordinator to prepare students for life beyond high school
- Instructional coaches to improve classroom learning
- Additional lunch and recess aides at Crosby Elementary
- School counselor for Crosby Elementary
- SAT Suite of Assessments to support college and career readiness
- Construction costs to accommodate our growing district and reduce class sizes
