Crystal Lake Fire Department issued the following announcement on March 19.
On March 19, 2019 at 4:48 am, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded for a reported structure fire at 316 Valhalla Cr. in Crystal Lake. Initial arriving crews, at 4:58 am, reported a fully involved mobile home. All occupants were reported out of the building upon fire department arrival. Fire units assumed a defensive strategy, operating from the outside of the building by applying water to the fire. The fire began to extend to another unit but was quickly extinguished. There were no firefighter injuries and the occupant suffered minor burns.
Mutual aid agencies were called to assist Crystal Lake utilizing the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS). Crystal Lake Command requested a box level alarm with units from Algonquin, Barrington-Countryside, Carpentersville, Cary, Huntley, Marengo, McHenry, Nunda Rural, Union, Wauconda, West Dundee, and Wonder Lake assisting.
Fire investigators from Crystal Lake and surrounding communities are investigating the cause of the fire. Damage is estimated at $75,000.
