Crystal Lake Park District issued the following announcement on June 4.
Did you know Crystal Lake has a large Swedish population? Explore our Swedish roots at this fun and educational festival of folklore! Activities include maypole decorating and raising, crown crafts, Swedish traditions, Scandinavian dance group, Swedish treats, CL Brewing and more!
Check out a special presentation on the Swedenbergers of Crystal Lake from Kurt Pearson, member of the Crystal Lake Historical Society. Kurt will cover the immigration story, historic maps and genealogy. For event updates go to https://www.crystallakeparks.org/special-events

The Colonel Palmer House was built c.1858 by settlers Gustavus and Henrietta Palmer. Located on its original site, the home was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Currently the home is maintained by the Crystal Lake Park District and is home to the Crystal Lake Historical Society.
