CRYSTAL LAKE COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 47: New Volunteer Procedure for 2019-20

Volunteer sign

Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District 47 recently issued the following announcement.

District 47 is proud to partner with our parent volunteers and visitors from the community as we work to support our students in a variety of ways. Whether you are visiting our schools as a classroom party volunteer, guest reader, mentor or in another role, we welcome and appreciate you!

In a continued effort to ensure the safety and security of the students and staff in our schools, District 47 will upgrade its visitor management system called Raptor starting with the 2019-20 school year. There are several changes and benefits associated with this upgrade. See below:

Visitor Procedure

The new version of Raptor will allow parents/guardians to visit any D47 school after scanning their ID for the first time at one school. All parents/guardians will be asked to re-scan their government-issued ID at the start of the 2019-20 school year.

Volunteer Procedure

The new version of Raptor will enhance and standardize the volunteer process across all District 47 schools. Parents or guardians who wish to volunteer at their child’s school will now be required to complete a brief online application and undergo a background check. Once the background check is complete and the application has been approved, a confirmation email will be sent. Information about the new volunteer process, including a link to the application, can be found on the District website and via a link called Volunteer on all school websites (see the Parents & Students tab). Here you will also find some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), as well as instructions and a video that explain the new volunteer application procedure.

Secured School Entrances

Lastly, the exterior main entrances at all D47 schools will now be locked during the school day. Intercom camera systems have been installed at all main entrances for visitor identification purposes prior to entry.

Our goal is to encourage visitors and volunteers in our schools while continuing to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for our students and working environment for our staff. Should you have further questions about these changes, please contact your school’s main office.
