Cary District 26 Announces At-Risk Pre-School Program & Preschool for All Screening for Cary District 26 and Fox River Grove District 3
District 26 is pleased to announce the offering of an At-Risk Pre-School Program and Preschool for All at Oak Knoll Early Childhood Center in the 2020-21 school year. The programs are designed to provide a preschool experience for children ages 3-5 who are residents of Cary or Fox River Grove and who qualify for pre-school programming due to a variety of factors, including but not limited to economic need, low performance on screening, primary language other than English, and chronic illness / health concerns.
Two sessions (am and pm) are currently being offered for the At-Risk Preschool with an additional am section for Preschool for All programs. The goal of the preschool is to provide students with a positive, nurturing environment that fosters social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth and development. The staff consists of a teacher, who is certified in early childhood education, and a paraprofessional. The sessions (both am and pm) will be 2.5 hours per day, five days per week. The program is free of charge for students who qualify.
In order to determine if students are eligible for the program, students must participate in an At-Risk Pre-school Screening. We will set up a screening date as soon as we are given clearance to do so. In the interim, please e-mail Sue Hostman at susan.hostman@cary26.org with your name, address, cell #, and child's name and date of birth. You can also call Sue Hostman at Oak Knoll Early Childhood Center 224-357-5550 and leave a voice mail message with the requested information. We will contact you for an appointment for your child to be screened when it is safe to meet at school. The Preschool Screening will be held at Oak Knoll Early Childhood Center, 409 N First St, Cary. Screening is free, but you must have an appointment to attend.
