Cary Community Consolidated School District 26 recently issued the following announcement.
Petitions for Candidacy for four (4) Board of Education seats are now available at the D26 Administrative Center, located at 2115 Crystal Lake Road, Cary. Petitions are also available at the McHenry County Clerk’s Office, 667 Ware Road, Suite 107, Woodstock, IL 60098 and Lake County Clerk’s Office, 18 North County Street, Room 101 Waukegan, IL 60085. Candidates must file in both McHenry and Lake Counties.
The term of office for Board of Education members is four (4) years. The Consolidated Election is April 6, 2021, with newly elected Board Members being seated at the April 2021 Board of Education Meeting.
To qualify to hold office a candidate must meet the following criteria:
- A citizen of the United States
- 18 years of age or older
- A resident of the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the election
- A registered voter
- Not a school trustee or school treasurer
- Not identified as a “child sex offender” as defined under the Illinois Criminal Code
