District 300 recently announced that Christopher Testone would serve as the new principal for Jacobs High School.
Testone, who has worked as an assistant principal at Dundee Middle school in District 300 previously, has been the principal of Central High School for the past eight years where he has guided the school through a 38% increase in enrollment.
“We are excited to see Chris return back to District 300 in the role of Jacobs High School (principal),” District 300 Superintendent Susan Harkin said at the Feb. 14 board meeting. “We had a really wonderful conversation when we interviewed. And I'm just thrilled to have you be joining our ranks and look forward to (you) being here as soon as we possibly can get you.”
Testone has an English degree from Eastern Illinois University, in addition to a master's in educational leadership from Northern Illinois and a doctorate from Aurora University. He started teaching in Hoffman Estates, teaching English.
In other business, Harkin recognized the district's school counselors in light of the recent School Counselor Appreciation Day. She thanked them for their efforts supporting students' social and emotional well-being.
Harkin also recognizd the district's school resource officers. Harkin credited the SRO’s for their service keeping the schools and communities safe, as well as for creating long-lasting relationships between youth and law enforcement.
