The 'Talking Dirty' class if offered for dual credit to high schoolers. | McHenry County College
McHenry County College in Illinois is offering a controversial course called 'Talking Dirty', which combines human sexuality and ethics, covering topics like foreplay, abortion, BDSM, “Why men rape” and more.
Professors Christine Grela and Tim Seitz teach the course, aiming to explore various facets of human sexuality and ethics, while students can earn extra credit by undergoing STD testing.
The ‘twofer’ class is worth six credits.
It includes classes PHI 251 0006 Intro to Ethics and PSY 175 001 Human Sexuality.
“Yes, this class is all about sex – what’s not to like?” a poster promoting the class reads.
“Join in this fascinating study of ethics as it relates to many forms and facets of human sexuality.”
The poster features a woman in a lingerie top kissing a shirtless man.
The course is being offered to high school students as a dual enrollment credit as well.
"Extra credit (5 points) will be awarded to any student who is tested for STDs during the course. I do NOT want to see your results; for evidence of testing, bring in a clinic brochure and/or doctor’s note simply stating that you were tested. Contact information for free and low-cost clinics is provided on Canvas," the syllabus reads, according to Fox News.
The syllabus further notes it will rely on sexually explicit imagery and discussion.
"Sexually explicit language, films, slides, and other teaching materials will be used at times throughout the quarter. If you are upset by, or made very uncomfortable by sexually explicit language or visual media depictions of human sexual behavior, you may wish to reconsider whether you really want to take this class," online information about the course reads.
The course instructors are both paid six figure salaries with Grela making $121,507 in 2022, and Seitz paid $129, 514 in 2022.
According to Breakthrough Ideas the texts for the class are similarly sexually themed.
“One of the textbooks the professors use is For goodness sex: Changing the way we talk to teens about sexuality, values, and health written by creepy 59-year-old homosexual high school English and sexuality teacher Al Vernacchio of whom the New York Times wrote a glowing profile in 2011. That article shares some of the inappropriate discussions and materials found in Vernacchio’s classes for high school students,” Laurie Higgins of Breakthrough Ideas reports.
“For years, Vernacchio has been encouraging kids to share and discuss colloquial metaphors relating to sex and explain their meanings. He discusses penis sizes, giving and receiving oral sex, and shaving pubic hair. He shows a ‘research video… of a woman ejaculating… and a couple of dozen up-close photographs of vulvas and penises.’”
