John Karavakis has been sentenced to two years in the Department of Corrections for domestic battery. The defendant pled guilty to pushing the victim, a 73-year-old woman who relied on him as a caregiver, causing her to hit her head during an argument.

At the time of this offense, Karavakis was serving two concurrent terms of probation for misdemeanor domestic battery convictions involving the same victim. Following his release from the Department of Corrections, he will have to comply with a criminal order of protection for at least two years during his four-year mandatory supervised release period.

Karavakis is entitled to day-for-day credit. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Margaret O’Brien and investigated by the Crystal Lake Police Department.
