On July 17, 2024, Calvin Jackson, a 28-year-old man from Rockford, was found guilty by a jury of home invasion, armed robbery, and attempted armed robbery. The trial was presided over by the Honorable Judge Justin Hansen. Jackson’s sentencing is scheduled for August 29, 2024.

The incident occurred on August 26, 2023, when a 74-year-old man was targeted by Jackson and an accomplice. The accomplice gained access to the victim’s home and shortly after, Jackson entered wearing a mask and armed with a large kitchen knife. Once inside, Jackson demanded $4,000 be sent to him using Venmo, which was declined. Growing agitated, Jackson attempted several other transactions totaling $27,510. At some point, Jackson was distracted, leaving the victim unattended. The victim escaped to a neighbor’s house who called 911. Jackson and his accomplice fled the scene but took the victim’s phone for a short time. Ultimately, Jackson was apprehended using forensic evidence.

McHenry County State's Attorney Patrick Kenneally expressed his gratitude to the officers of the Woodstock Police Department and McHenry County Assistant State's Attorneys Ashley Romito and Tyler Mikan for their commitment to the safety of residents.
