FOIA Request to McHenry County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
As a dedicated media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the McHenry Times have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) for records pertaining to the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections.
The requested records include a list of candidates running for office in the aforementioned elections. We are seeking specific details such as candidate names, their respective filing dates, and the offices they are running for.
Our aim is to ensure transparency in public institutions by holding them accountable through our reporting. As part of our professional responsibilities as journalists, access to public records is essential. In light of this role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
