State Senator Craig Wilcox’s legislative office in Woodstock will again act as a collection site for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign this year. The office, located at 209 North Benton Street, will accept new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children of all ages from now through Friday, December 5. Collection hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Toys will be picked up on Monday, December 8.
“Many families are facing difficult financial circumstances, and something as simple as a toy can brighten a child’s holiday,” said Wilcox. “Toys for Tots has a long tradition of helping ensure that joy reaches as many homes as possible. I’m proud to have my office serve as a drop-off site to support their mission.”
The Toys for Tots program operates annual local collection campaigns in over 800 communities across every state. In each community, either a Marine, a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment, or another community organization member serves as coordinator. After toys are collected from drop-off sites, coordinators work with social welfare agencies, church groups, and other organizations to distribute gifts to children who might otherwise go without during the holidays.
“As we reflect on everything for which we are grateful, I encourage those who are able to share their generosity with others,” Wilcox added. “A small gift can make a big difference, and together we can help bring smiles to children across our community.”
Wilcox is a Republican who was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2018 representing the 32nd Senate District.
