At 4:05 p.m. on Friday, March 13, the UIC Flames, featuring former Cary-Grove High School standout Charlie Taczy, were defeated 9-5 by the UNC Greensboro Spartans in NCAA Division I baseball action.

Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium served as the venue for their season’s first meeting against the Spartans.

Taczy pitched 2.1 innings, surrendered one earned run, and issued three walks.

The Flames are scheduled to face UNC Greensboro again on Saturday, March 14, at 2:05 p.m. at Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium.
