VILLAGE CLERK’S REPORT:

STAFF REPORTS:
ADMINISTRATION:
Mr. Schloneger:
Deputy Chief Timothy Cooney continues to exemplify the Village’s culture of leadership and lifelong learning through his recent featured article in Gov CIO Outlook, where he highlights the critical connection between financial wellness and employee performance. His work reinforces the Village of Algonquin’s strong organizational culture of continuous learning, where employees are encouraged to read, engage with podcasts, and pursue ongoing development. This commitment to growth is reflected in consistently positive resident satisfaction ratings. By promoting personal financial literacy, Deputy Chief Cooney strengthens employee focus, resilience, and productivity—benefiting both our workforce and the community we serve.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT:
Mr. Knapp:
No Updates
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Chief Walker:
1. The Police Social Worker program continues to be successful in that last year they received 126 referrals from the Algonquin PD Officers. The largest segment of services provided were 43% on Mental Health, 21% on Domestic Disputes, and 10% on juvenile related disputes. We were second in the county in referrals so we are serving those in need greatly. Lastly, as a continuation and roll out this year, the PSW will be doing ride alongs and responding to calls for service in real time vs people in need awaiting a return call as a referral.
2. Officers Brock Moore and Eric Benson recently conducted a traffic stop and while doing so, located an initial firearm and then another and were able to safely remove and arrest one of the occupants of the vehicle. He was later charged with 9 felony charges. These Officers got guns off the street and made our community safer as a result.
PUBLIC WORKS:
Mr. Badran:
1. Two new employees have started with the department, Matthew Bullini and Tyler Ward. They are working with our parks/ecology division.
2. Staff was notified last Monday that we will be receiving $1,019,000 from Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky’s office for the High Hill Sanitary Sewer replacement project. These funds were applied for in 2024 as part of the congresswoman’s community project funding program.
CORRESPONDENCE:
President Sosine:
1. Clerk Martin will be out for the rest of the month as he recovers from surgery. Any questions should be directed to her or Tim.
2. Groot requested to launch the toter program in June. Moving the launch up to June will secure a $75,000 in committed event sponsorship revenue over the next three years.
3. She updated the Board on her recent visits to Springfield and Washington DC. She encouraged the Board to follow various House Bills and to put in witness slips as appropriate.
Trustee Glogowski asked various questions regarding the House Bills and explained some of his concerns pertaining to the e-bike bills being reviewed.
