Lake in the Hills trustees consider tax incentive for tavern

Lakeinthehillslogo

The Lake in the Hills Committee of the Whole recently released the minutes of its Sept. 22 meeting.

Village Administrator Gerald Sagona presented the proposed tax incentive for Wood Creek Tavern. The deal would reimburse 75 percent of the business' sales tax over a four year period. Several trustees suggested the village lower the percentage to 50 percent, matching the incentive program provided to Costco. A 50 percent incentive would still reimburse the business with approximately $45,000. The issue was passed on to the Village Board.

The committee debated the merits of a proposed swimming school in the village. After a debate on the effect of the drafted plans on the development potential of surrounding properties, and reluctance to approve the proposal because it would not generate substantial sales tax, project officials proposed paying the village 2 percent of its gross receipts. The committee members passed the issue to the Village Board.

The Parks and Recreation Department said Kopf Running will host this year's Thanksgiving Day Hustle 5k event at Sunset Park.
