Senator Craig Wilcox has sent out his annual End of Session newsletter to residents of Illinois’ 32nd Senate District. The report covers legislative activities from the recent spring session, including new laws passed, legislation that was blocked, and pending bills. The newsletter also features a link to an annual survey for constituents to share their views.

“In addition to information about legislation that passed, bad bills we successfully blocked, and some bills that are still pending, the report includes a link to an annual survey. The survey provides valuable information that helps me represent the interests and priorities of those I represent in the Senate. If you have not yet taken that survey I would invite you to do so. You can access the survey here,” Senator Wilcox said.

Residents who did not receive the newsletter can request a copy by contacting Wilcox’s office by phone or email.

Last week, Senator Wilcox met with local officials at a meeting of the McHenry County Council of Governments (MCCOG). “Nearly every community in McHenry County had representation in attendance, and we had a very productive conversation about issues that are important in the county, including public transit and taxes. McHenry County residents are fortunate to have such dedicated leaders at the local level, and I appreciate the invitation to participate in the discussion. A special thank you goes out to Johnsburg Village President Ed Hettermann for hosting the event,” he stated.

The senator is also organizing several community events across his district this summer. These include a document shredding event with food donations in Woodstock on August 16; a pet adoption event on August 21; another Conversations Untapped event on August 28; an IPASS On Demand event on September 17; and a Senior Resource Fair scheduled for October 14.

Wilcox encourages residents to check his website regularly for updates on additional events: Wilcox’s official site.

Senate Republicans are raising concerns over reports showing Illinois may owe more than $700 million each year due to errors administering federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Illinois’ error rate was reported at 11.56 percent for fiscal year 2024—higher than most other states—and could result in significant penalties under federal rules requiring repayments when error rates exceed 10 percent.

“We need increased transparency and urging the Administration to take immediate action to fix the errors and stop the fraud and abuse in the SNAP program,” said Senator Wilcox.

Wilcox was elected as state senator representing Illinois’ 32nd District in 2018 as a Republican, succeeding Pamela Althoff.
