The Village of Lakewood's board voted to approve an agreement with Crystal Lake for fire and emergency medical services during its Nov. 24 meeting.

The board dealt with several proposals regarding public safety at the meeting, including a proposed agreement for fire and medical services between Lakewood and the Woodstock Fire and Rescue District. The village decided that further research and discussion was needed before committing to partnering with Woodstock.

Village President Erin Smith said the village appreciates the hard work that the Woodstock Fire and Rescue District has done for the village.

Woodstock Fire Chief Ralph Webster said the Woodstock Fire Department will work with Crystal Lake to develop a mutual agreement to get the best service.
