County panel to consider strategic plan to address homelessness

Homeless

The McHenry County Continuum of Care to End Homelessness will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday at 2200 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock to vote on a strategic plan that would work to alleviate homelessness in the county.

The plan was prepared by the anti-poverty organization Heartland Alliance and would cover action on homelessness through 2018.

The group also will discuss its upcoming elections in March. The group is expected to nominate candidates for chair, co-chair, and secretary positions at its January and February meetings. The chair will serve a one year term, while the co-chair and secretary will serve for two years.

The continuum will also discuss several facets of its funding strategy, including reporting obligations for last year's Emergency Solutions Grant, and recommended priorities for the 2016-17 version of that grant.
