The Crystal Lake Planning and Zoning Commission recently voted to approve a master sign plan from McHenry County College.

Christina Haggerty and Mike Clesceri from the college and Phil Stuepfert from HR Green presented the college signage plans that included the addition of entrance signs and bases for monument based signs. Replacing signs is the last phase of upgrades at that campus, and Stuepfert said that three entrance signs would be necessary based upon the layout of the campus.

Among the signs that will be placed is an electronic messaging center (EMC) sign that would have scrolling information that would be set to change in three-minute intervals.

The college currently has three signs that are to remain in their places.

The commission approved the measure with conditions that include the plans reflect staff and board recommendations, the EMC sign messages can remain on the sign for a maximum of five minutes and that the college will review reports and requirements from other city departments.
