The Crystal Lake Planning and Zoning Commission agreed during a meeting on Feb. 3 that further discussion is needed regarding a request to subdivide a lot owned by First Midwest Bank for future sale.
The meeting minutes indicate that approximately half of the 4.3-acre lot on Route 31 is currently being utilized for commercial operation.
Commission members Jim Jouron and Jim Batastini said they could not support the request and that subdividing the lot would cause an increase in traffic in the area if an additional business were added into the space.
The Crystal Lake Planning and Zoning Commission will take up a request to subdivide a lot on March 2.
Batastini said that the lot is adjacent to residential space and that consideration could be made if there was a prospective buyer or planned use for the subdivided lot.
Jouron agreed and said it would be difficult to place a business in the space.
The matter of another business wanting direct access to public streets to the south was also discussed. According to the minutes, access would not be possible.
Members of the public said that neighboring homes might be disturbed if a new business in the space were to be open until midnight.
The commission agreed further deliberation of the matter would take place March 2.
