Former state senator and current Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen has endorsed Allen Skillicorn in his run for Illinois state representative for District 66.
“Thank you so much for the endorsement from Chairman Chris Lauzen!” Skillicorn wrote on his website.
Lauzen, who is running for re-election as Kane County Board’s chairman, was the State Senator for Illinois’ 25th District for 20 years. Skillicorn posted Lauzen’s endorsement on his website.
“I had the privilege to serve in Springfield as a reformer," Lauzen said. "I stood up for what was right during my term. Illinois needs a new crop of conservative reformers to turn around Illinois. I’m 100 percent convinced that Allen Skillicorn is the conservative reformer that Illinois needs right now. Allen’s going to win and he’s going to make us proud!”
Skillicorn is vying for Republican State Rep. Mike Tryon’s seat. Tryon, who has held his seat for 12 years, announced last June that he would not run for re-election due to his belief in term limits for elected officials.
Skillikorn is running against Paul Serwatka, Dan Wilbrandt and Carolyn Schofield.
A January poll by Compass Consulting showed Skillicorn had a strong lead over his fellow Republican candidates. Although many of the 346 people polled were still undecided at the time, the survey showed that 24 percent of voters favored Skillicorn -- 15 points ahead of the next candidate.
Skillicorn also has been endorsed by Tax Accountability, the Political Action arm of Taxpayers United of America (TUA).
Skillicorn grew up in Crystal Lake and Algonquin, and graduated from Dundee Crown High School. He resides in East Dundee with his family and is the marketing director for a local electronics manufacturer. Skillicorn currently serves as vice-chair for the Kane County Republican Party, and believes in greater government accountability and lower taxes.
