The Woodstock Plan Commission voted last week to recommend approval of a special-use permit for a duplex to be developed by Hearthstone Communities and Woodstock Christian Life Services.
The organizations are seeking to develop a duplex at 930 Northampton St.
The hearing was a continuation of a Plan Commission meeting Jan. 28 when a three-unit single family residence was proposed. Concerns from the commission prompted the change a duplex.
Hearthstone Communities President and CEO Terry Eagan said the demand for residences like this are high and the company has developed similar structures in the area.
The commission said the request was a significant improvement to the planned redevelopment, but the petition did not reflect the changes proposed.
The commission voted to recommend approval of the special use permit with conditions that include revising the petition before its presentation to the City Council, that the existing structure be demolished and that demolition and cleanup activity be completed within a year of the effective date of the amendment.
