The McCullom Lake Village Board discussed installing new tornado sirens during its Feb. 23 meeting.
The board said the pricing process and other research was being carried out in relation to the costs associated with installing new sirens including poles. The meeting minutes report that the village’s insurer has provided some funding for this but it would not be reimbursing pole costs.
The board also noted that it would need to ensure that the installation of new sirens would be feasible with the county and dispatchers. The sirens would also need to be able to be heard within households and be able to wake residents up in case a tornado were to be reported overnight.
Trustees also approved stop signs at the Spring and Maple Hill intersection and a $9,171 payment to be made to Abitua Plumbing for services.
