Johnsburg approves wasterwater treatment service area

The Johnsburg Village Board met May 3.

The board consists of six trustees and the village president. They make decisions based on committee recommendations and input from village staff. The board meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Here are the minutes of the May 3 meeting as provided by Johnsburg:

President Hettermann called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. in the Village Hall.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION – Emit Roberts of 3601 Middle Avenue questioned if the cost of the sewer connection for residents on Sunnyside Beach would be reduced by future connections to the system. President Hettermann explained that the cost has already been reduced significantly. He further explained that the original cost was estimated to be $38,000 per property which has now been reduced to $21,000 because of the Village’s assistance. Mr. Roberts questioned who would receive the funds from future connections. Trustee Hutchinson explained that the Village would retain the funds as reimbursement for their financial assistance in the project.

OMNIBUS AGENDA -Trustee McEvoy moved to approve the Omnibus Agenda. Trustee Hutchinson seconded the motion. All Trustees present voted aye on the roll. Motion carried.

Move to approve the minutes of the April 19, 2016, Regular Meeting of the President and Board of Trustees

Move to approve Ordinance 15-16-36 Amending Chapter 15.16 of the Johnsburg Municipal Code Related to the Operation of Non-Highway Vehicles on Certain Village Streets

Move to approve Ordinance 15-16-37 Amending Chapter 14 Animal Control of the Johnsburg Municipal Code

Move to approve Ordinance 15-16-38 Amending Chapter 9 Liquor Control and Liquor Licensing of the Johnsburg Municipal Code

Move to authorize a conditional offer of employment to Jeffrey Ehlers for the position of Police Officer

SSA 32 - Trustee Curry moved to approve Ordinance 15-16-33 ratifying the establishment of Special Service Area #32 (Wastewater Treatment and Collection System Project) in the Village of Johnsburg. Trustee McEvoy seconded the motion. Trustees Klemstein, McEvoy, Huemann, Curry and Hutchinson voted aye. Motion carried.

DVONCH VARIANCE - The Board performed a first review of an Ordinance granting a variance to the property commonly known as the Dvonch property at 1604 Sunnyside Beach Drive. Said variance is to accommodate the construction of an accessory storage structure for personal storage. The petition clarified the proposed location of the structure. With no further questions, the matter was set for the next meeting for action.

FUNDING ASSISTANCE STATUS - Bill Viney and Donald Roecker were in attendance to discuss the status of the Village’s efforts to secure funding through the Army Corp of Engineers for aquatic ecosystem restoration project being pursued.

ADJOURNMENT – Trustee Curry moved to adjourn the meeting. Trustee McEvoy seconded the motion. All Trustees present voted aye. Motion carried at 7:34 p.m.
