The village of Spring Grove's inaugural wine-and-beer tasting fundraiser for Hatchery Park will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the park, according to village's website.

The fundraiser will feature 30 wines and nine craft beers. Each attendee will receive a tasting glass, and appetizers will be available.

Tickets are $30 in advance at www.forwinelovers.com, or $35 apiece at the door. All ticket sales are final.

The park, at 2314 Hatcher Road in Spring Grove, was the site of the first state fish hatchery in 1914, according to forwinelovers.com. The village took ownership in 2007, and fundraisers and grants over the years have helped make the hatchery into a visitor's center, as well as help fund construction of fishing piers, cleaning of walking paths and ponds, and other projects, such as the recent pond fountain and pavilion.

Permanent restrooms, a pedestrian bridge over Nippersink Creek and continued maintenance are among the future projects for the park.
