McHenry Parks and Rec open basketball, volleyball start soon

Open basketball and volleyball will start in mid-October in McHenry's Parks and Recreation Department, its online Fall 2016 brochure said.

Open basketball starts Oct. 16 and runs each Sunday through Dec. 18 at the Parkland School gym. Children in grades 2-8 and their parents can play during family time 5:30-7 p.m. High-school students and adults can play from 7-9 p.m. A limited number of basketballs will be available. Participants younger than 18 years old need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian before playing.

Cost is $3 per person during family time and $5 per person during high-school/adult time.

There will be no basketball played Nov. 27 and Dec. 4.

Open volleyball will be from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Oct. 11 to Dec. 13 at the Parkland School gym. The sessions are for players ages 18 and older with a signed waiver and ID. Cost is $5 per person.
