Spring Grove ranked 711th in state in lottery ticket sales for May 2016

The Village of Spring Grove had the 711th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of May 2016 -- up 7 spots from its April ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Spring Grove was $10.93 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the McHenry Times, Spring Grove generated $62,439.50 in net sales from its three lottery retailers in May 2016, compared to $50,608.50 in May 2015.

The Village of Spring Grove is in McHenry County, and has a population of 5,711, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Fox Lake, Johnsburg and Pistakee Highlands.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in May 2016 was $22,727.65.

Spring Grove's top lottery retailer is Spring Grove Marathon located at 2551 US-12, Spring Grove, IL 60081.

Spring Grove Marathon generated 54 percent of Spring Grove's May 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of McHenry County's sales that month, which was $3,159,143.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in McHenry County in 2015 were Richmond, Wonder Lake, Harvard, Marengo and Woodstock.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
