Marengo Community High School District 154 Board met March 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Henning called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

Present: Henning, Dujmovich, Ranzino, and Kanaly.

Absent: Volkening, Torman, Signore.

Administration: Engelbrecht, Fink

Guests: Prom committee and class sponsors, custodian Don Swanson, wrestlers; family members and coaches, girls’ basketball members; family members and coaches; Country Financial representative Brad Shumann, and Tony Martin

Press: None

Tony Martin was seated as a new board member. He was administered the “Oath of Office” by Board President Henning. All Board members were read the “Code of Conduct” by Superintendent Engelbrecht.

Moved by Kanaly and seconded by Ranzino to approve the following consent agenda items: the minutes of the regular meeting of February 26, 2018; to release the executive minutes of February 26, 2018 meeting; to pay the financial obligations of the District as presented; the January treasurers report; the review of the Kooi and Pingel Educational Loan Trust Summary Fund; the John Swanson Trust and Franks Family Fund report of February 28, 2018; to appoint Susan McGuire as the Marengo community High School District #154 treasurer for the 2018-19 fiscal year; to renew our membership in the IHSA; and to pass a resolution to authorize the district to continue participating in the McHenry County Safe Schools program for the 2018-19 school year. Roll Call Vote: 5 Ayes, 0 Nays. Motion Carried.

The Board presented Outstanding Achievement Awards to the wrestlers and the girls basketball 3 point field goal competitor who qualified for state.

The Prom committee gave a presentation to the Board with their plans for Prom.

The presentation of Skills USA was postponed until next meeting.

Items number F-4, F-5, and F-6 will be discussed in executive session.

Moved by Ranzino and seconded by Kanaly to place the proposed science textbooks on display for public review until April 23, 2018 prior to their adoption. Voice vote: Motion Carried.

Moved by Ranzino and seconded by Kanaly to approve the first reading of proposed changes/additions to Board policies. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.

Moved by Dujmovich and seconded by Kanaly to approve Superintendent Engelbrecht developing and implementing updated procedures in accordance with McHenry County Department of Health regulations. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.

Moved by Ranzino and seconded by Kanaly to go into executive session to discuss personnel at 7:43 p.m.

Roll Call Vote: 5 Ayes, 0 Nays.

The Board returned to the regular meeting at 8:35 p.m.

Moved by Ranzino and seconded by Martin to approve the personnel report as amended. Voice Vote:

Motion Carried.

Moved by Kanaly and seconded by Ranzino to approve the rehire of all administrators on one-year contracts. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.

Moved by Kanaly and seconded by Ranzino to approve the rehire of all ESP personnel for the 2018-19 school year as amended. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.

Superintendent/Board report:

1. Discussed end of the year dates.

2. Discussed the program highlights of the IASB Division spring dinner report.

3. No discussion on the School Business Daily.

4. Discussed upcoming dates.

There being no other business, Martin moved the meeting be adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
