Report: Marengo spent $17,302 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Marengo Community High School District 154 is up 28 percent from five years ago, according to a McHenry Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Mchenry County school district spent $13,549 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $17,302 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 772 to 711.

Marengo's spending in 2016-17 was 33 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
