Cary Area Public Library District Board met March 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

1. Call to order: Library Board President Jan Polep called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

2. Roll call: Present were Library Trustees George England, Barb Kalchbrenner, Jason Pinshower, Jan Polep, Allison Richmond and Teresa Sigsworth. Also present were Library Director Diane McNulty, Head of Support Services Karen Long and Head of Public Services Mona Reynolds. Trustee Scott Migaldi was present via telephone.

3. Approval of board minutes from:

a. Regular Board meeting on February 8, 2018 - the minutes from February 8, 2018 were reviewed. Motion by England, seconded by Kalchbrenner. On roll call all ayes, Pinshower abstained.

4. Communications

5. Treasurer’s report: Kalchbrenner reported the library opened the month with $1,902,400.00. Received the Personal Property Replacement Tax payment of $2,064.15 and $21,930.55 in Per Capita Grant funds for FY 16/17. Closed the month with a balance of $2,790,500.00. Motion by Pinshower to approve the Treasurer’s report, seconded by England. On roll call all ayes, motion approved. Migaldi abstained.

6. Approval of bills

a. February 2018 - Kalchbrenner presented the board with payments, payroll and transfers totaling $280,631.07. Larger bills included $3,725.00 to E Carlson for snowplowing and salting and $2,370.00 to Rob Zschernitz for computer consulting. Motion by Kalchbrenner to approve paying the bills, seconded by Sigsworth. On roll call all ayes, motion approved. Migaldi abstained.

8. Unfinished Business

a. Review and approve response to proposed HB4246 - Motion to approve sending the letter opposing HB4246 by England, seconded by Pinshower. On roll call all ayes, motion approve. The letter was signed by all in attendance, Scott will sign when he gets back. b. Discussion of Chamber Roundtable luncheon - Mayor Kowick gave information on new developments coming to Cary. c. Discussion of Legislative Breakfast - only 8-10 legislators there, legislators were a little more on the defensive side with all the current issues going on. Jason serves on the ILA Advocacy Committee that puts together the Legislative breakfast.

9. New business

a. Polaris ILS (Integrated Library System) demo - Mona and Karen did a short demo of the new online catalog.

10. Any and all other business the Board may wish to discuss - Courtney Soesbe from PMA Financial Network will be at the April meeting to discuss investing options. Diane wanted to discuss the Cary chamber events we sponsor. Teresa shared that District 155 is advertising the Job fair at all 4 high schools.

11. Adjourn - Migaldi motioned to adjourn the meeting, Kalchbrenner seconded. The meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.
