Rep. Allen Skillicorn (R-East Dundee) has scheduled a “pension-focused” town hall gathering for June 20 at the Algonquin Village Hall beginning at 7 p.m.
In a press release, Skillicorn said he and co-hosts Ted Dabrowski and Mark Glennon, both of Wirepoints, a news source focused on the economy and its local impact, will center around “policy, facts and numbers, not politics.”
“Pensions are the No. 1 reason why costs are being driven up and services are being diminished," Skillicorn added in the release. "By ignoring the real issue of pensions, we are driving more millennials and seniors to flee the state.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 80 percent of Illinois’ most populous cities experienced population losses from July 2016 to July 2017. In addition, 39 of the state’s top 50 cities witnessed a shrinking population over the same timeframe, with Chicago being the only major U.S. city to see a drop in population over the last yearlong period on record.
