Marengo Fire Protection District responded to 77 calls in 2017 - 11.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Marengo included 32 fires - 13 structure fires, two vehicle fires and 17 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $895,000 in fire loss - or about $27,969 per fire.

The department also received 44 false calls.

The Marengo Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $1,328,619 in 2017.
