Rep. Steve Reick (R-Woodstock) recently warned that residents will continue to flee the state if Democratic gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker wins in November.
"What we're going to be left with are a whole bunch of people making less and less money providing less and less revenue in an economy that continues to stagnate," Reick said during a press conference with other state Republican lawmakers. “So, whatever J.B. Pritzker is selling, I’m not buying it, nor should you.”
Reick also expressed doubt that Pritzker will keep his word once in office and only tax the wealthy.

"He’s wasting an awful lot of money on ads talking about taxing the rich," Reick said. "Let's find out what he's going to do about taxing the middle class because that's what's going to happen."
Reick was elected in 2016 to the 63rd House District seat that had been held by Democrats for almost two decades. Reick ran unopposed in the Republican Primary in March and is unopposed in November's general election.
The 63rd district is located entirely within McHenry County, and includes all or parts of Woodstock and McHenry.
