Harrison School District 36 students suspended 30 times in a single school year

Harrison School District 36 reported 30 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 30 students during the year. That equates to 8.2 percent of the 368 students enrolled.

Of the 30 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes 21 incidents. There were nine incidents of unspecified reasons. For 28 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
