McHenry Community Consolidated School District 15 students suspended 150 times in a single school year

McHenry Community Consolidated School District 15 reported 150 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 150 students during the year. That equates to 3.3 percent of the 4,491 students enrolled.

Of the 86 in-school suspensions, 76 were given to boys and 10 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 54 incidents. There were 31 incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For 73 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 64 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 53 incidents. There were eight incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For 29 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
