VILLAGE OF HUNTLEY: Additional Branch, Debris and Other Waste Collection

Garbagecan 1000x667

Village of Huntley issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.

CLEAN-UP ACTIVITY UPDATE

As clean-up activities continue, we want to commend the residents of our community for how you have dealt with the many challenges brought about by the September 25th storm. We also want to recognize and thank the many volunteers and neighboring communities who have assisted with clean-up efforts and building inspections. These include Algonquin, Bartlett, McHenry, Niles, Rolling Meadows, Woodstock, and McHenry County. As a result of their efforts, along with Village of Huntley Public Works crews, we have made significant progress in removing storm debris. We also understand that residents may need some additional time to complete clean-up of property, so Public Works will continue collecting branch and tree debris next week. Please have items at the curb by Tuesday morning, October 2nd. Please note, pick up may not take place until the following week due to the volume of material. We ask residents to be careful not to block the roadways and sidewalks when placing debris at the curb. Crews will not be picking up sticks and leaf debris. These items should be disposed of as part of your regular landscape waste pick-up. If you have any questions, please contact the Public Works Department at 847-515-5222.

SUN CITY BRANCH PICK UP

Sun City regularly scheduled branch pick up for the week of October 1st will take place and continue into the week of October 8th.

OTHER WASTE

MDC Environmental Services will be conducting a special waste collection on Monday, October 1st. They will be picking up larger items that do not fit inside the usual waste receptacles (such as patio furniture, basketball hoops, etc.). MDC asks that items be cut down/disassembled to fit in the truck (4-5 feet at the largest). If something is too big for pick-up, MDC will tag it outlining the reason it was not picked up. MDC will only come through the neighborhoods once, so please be sure to have items at the curb first early Monday morning. If MDC does not make it to every home on Monday, they will be back on Tuesday.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6

8 AM – NOON

PUBLIC WORKS DONALD DRIVE FACILITY

On Saturday, October 6, MDC will have 3 dumpsters at the Public Works facility on Donald Drive for residents to bring household and outside items (non-landscaping) that were damaged from the storm. Branch drop-off will also take place, as scheduled, at the Public Works facility on Donald Drive. Reminder, no electronic items will be accepted. Huntley residents only - IDs will be checked.
