McHenry County Board met December 3.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

1. Call to Order by the Chairman


2. Pledge of Allegiance

3. Invocation - Pastor Kendall Koenig, Light of Christ Lutheran Church, Algonquin, Illinois and Pastor Ness of Evangelical Free Church

4. Administration of the Oath of Office - Judge Cowlin

5. Introductory Roll Call

County Clerk Tirio called the roll, the following members responded: Acosta, Althoff, Barnes, Bates, Christensen, Jung, Kearns, McCann, Ness, Nowak, Parrish, Reinert, Schofield, Skala, Smith, Thorsen, Vijuk, Wegener, Wheeler, Wilbeck and Yensen. Absent: Aavang.

6. Nomination and Election of Vice-Chairman of the Board

Mr. Christensen made a motion seconded by Mr. Reinert to nominate Mike Skala as Vice Chairman. Chairman Franks asked if there were any other nominations, there were none. On a unanimous voice vote, Mr. Skala was elected as Vice Chair.

7. Administration of The Oath of Office for the Vice-Chairman was Done by Judge Cowlin

8. Public Comment - None

9. Member's Comments

Mr. Christensen asked everyone to keep Michele Aavang and family in their prayers as her husband passed away.

Mr. Sarbaugh was welcomed back and board members were welcomed.

Mr. Vijuk thanked his everyone who supported him during this election process.

10. Chairman's Remarks

The Chairman welcomed new members and congratulated all who were elected and noted that there would be a reception for board members after the meeting.

Chairman Franks said tomorrow morning there will be committees convened to help set committee assignments and make changes to the County Board rules which is done after every election.

      The Ad Hoc Committee on rules will meet at 9 a.m. tomorrow. The members will be: Mr. Nowak, Ms. Schofield, Mr. Christensen, Ms. Bates, Ms. Yensen, Mr. Skala, Ms. Aavang, Mr. Smith and the Chairman.

      The Committee on Committees will meet immediately after the Ad Hoc Committee meeting.

11. Appointment of the Committee on Committees

The Chairman asked if each County Board District has chosen their representative for the Committee on Committees. Those chosen are as follows:

      District #1, Mr. Nowak; District #2, Mr. Reinert; District #3, Mr. Christensen;, District #4, Mr. Wheeler;

District #5, Mr. Jung, and District #6, Ms. McCann.

12. Reseating of Board Members

The Chairman asked if any members with seniority wished to change their seats. Only a couple of people switched and no new members made any change to where they were.

14. Administrator's Report

Mr. Austin said staff is working on a full written report for the board meeting next week. He noted that as of this morning we are live with our new financial software.

15. Executive Session

16. Adjournment

Ms. Yensen made a motion seconded by Mr. Christensen to adjourn at 9:16 a.m. Chairman Franks declared the motion passed on a unanimous voice vote.
