Woodstock Chamber of Commerce & Industry issued the following announcement on Jan. 25.
McHenry County College is committed to offering valuable training for employees in manufacturing and industry. Upcoming classes include Blueprint Reading, Blueprint Reading for Spanish Speakers, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
The Blueprint Reading class covers print layouts, holes, threads, machining details, and assembly prints. Individual class exercises provide actual practice interpreting in-house drawings. Basic shop math is recommended. Ideal for inspectors, maintenance and shop floor personnel. Class takes place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 19. Cost is $259. New this year, the Blueprint Reading for Spanish Speakers class is taught by a bi-lingual instructor and is designed for Spanish-speaking personnel to learn how to interpret and read blue prints that are written in English. This 24-hour course covers alphabet of lines, symbols and terminology, visualization, and sectional and auxiliary views. Individual class exercises provide actual practice interpreting drawings. Basic shop math is recommended. Class takes place on Mondays evenings from 4:30-7:30 p.m. from Feb. 4 through March 25. Cost is $429. Use course code: NTE S05 001 when registering.
The Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) class teaches participants how it applies to ANSI Y14.5M-2009. Topics include: Interpreting GD&T symbols, Forma and orientation tolerances and profile, runout and location tolerances. Ideal for product engineers, process engineers, CAD technicians, lead personnel and inspectors. Class takes place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 12. Cost is $259.
