McHenry County issued the following announcement on April 4.

“Honoring our Past, Creating Hope for the Future” celebrates the progress made by those before us as we look to a future of crime victim services that is even more inclusive, accessible, and trauma-informed.

The annual National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is being observed April 7-13, 2019. This week will be dedicated to promoting victim support services, bringing awareness to the rights of crime victims, and the effect victimization has on our community.

In recognition of Crime Victims’ Rights Week, the McHenry County Child Advocacy Center will be hosting an open house event on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 3:00pm-6:00pm. This event will highlight how the Child Advocacy Center helps victims in our community and McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally will discuss what his office does to support victims’ rights at 5 pm. The public will also have the opportunity to meet Apple, the Child Advocacy Center facility dog, and learn how she provides comfort to visitors of the center.
