Illinois state Rep. Allen Skillicorn (R-East Dundee) is making sure to remind residents of his district that the McHenry County Board recently voted to rebate $15 million of the roughly $40 million fund surplus of Valley Hi Nursing Home back to homeowners who qualify for the homestead exemption.
“Visit the McHenry County website to find out if you qualify and apply for the rebate,” Skillicorn said in a press release that also links to frequently asked questions about the matter.
Valley Hi Nursing Home has amassed a fund surplus enough to cover more than three years of operations. After months of discussion, the McHenry County Board voted in April to rebate $15 million back to homeowners who take the homestead exemption.

The Valley Hi rebate program follows the law covered by the Illinois Fiscal Responsibility Act, which provides the process by which surplus funds can be rebated.
